How long lip blush lasts in Manila, and what fades it faster

Lip blush, the treatment many people in the Philippines call lip tattoo, stays for about two to three years before it needs a refresh. The range is wide because lips live a harder life than brows: food, drinks, sun and constant movement. Here is what decides where you land in that range, and what you can do about it.

What lasting means for lips

Lip blush does not disappear on a set date. It softens. The colour gets lighter year by year, the border stays defined longer than the centre, and at some point the lips look like your own lips on a good day rather than lips with colour. That is when most clients come back for a refresh, which is shorter than the first session because the shape is already there.

The first weeks: why it looks like it is fading too fast

Fresh lip blush looks bright, sometimes close to lipstick. Within a week it flakes, and under the flakes the colour looks pale or patchy. Between weeks two and four the true colour comes back through as the new skin clears. Clients who judge the result in week two think it has failed; clients who wait to week four see what they will live with. The retouch at six to eight weeks evens out any light spots and is included.

What fades lip blush faster

Sun

The single biggest factor in Manila. UV breaks down pigment, and lips get sun every day. A lip balm with SPF slows this more than anything else you can do.

Exfoliating products

Lip scrubs, acids in lip products, and whitening treatments near the mouth speed fading. Use them gently, or not on the lips.

Smoking and hot drinks

Both dry and stress lip skin, and dry skin renews faster, taking pigment with it.

Skin type and dark lips

Lips with a lot of natural pigment can absorb a light blush and make it look muted sooner. On dark or purple lips I often recommend neutralization first so the colour heals true and holds; the reasons are in dark lips and permanent makeup.

Lip filler

Filler does not fade pigment, but swelling or new volume can stretch the border. If you have filler, wait four weeks after the last injection so the outline is stable before we work.

What helps it last

  • Follow the aftercare for the first ten days: keep the lips moist with the balm I give you, no scrubs, no picking the flakes
  • SPF lip balm every day once healed
  • Keep the retouch appointment at six to eight weeks
  • Come for a refresh when the colour softens, before it is gone, so we build on what is there

How the colour changes as it fades

A well-chosen colour fades toward a lighter version of itself. A badly chosen one can drift warm or cool, toward orange or grey, especially on lips with a strong natural tone. This is why I mix the colour against your own lips in daylight and show it on the skin before any needle. A colour that suits your lips at full strength usually still suits them at half strength.

If you have an old lip tattoo

Old work that faded patchy or healed the wrong colour can usually be corrected. Sometimes it needs a neutralizing step first. Send two photos in daylight, no lipstick, and I will tell you which route applies before you book.

What it costs to keep

Lip blush starts from 12,000 pesos with the retouch included. A refresh after two or three years is quoted separately and costs less than a first session. What a lip price should and should not include is covered in lip tattoo prices in the Philippines.

Questions about how long lip blush lasts

How long does lip blush last?

About two to three years before most clients want a refresh. It softens gradually rather than disappearing.

Why does my lip blush look gone in week two?

The flakes took the top layer of colour and the new skin is still cloudy. True colour returns between weeks two and four.

What makes lip blush fade faster?

Sun most of all, then lip scrubs and acids, smoking and hot drinks. SPF lip balm every day helps the most.

Can I get lip blush if I have lip filler?

Yes. Wait four weeks after your last injection so the outline is stable.
