Eyebrow tattoo in Makati: powder brows and ombre brows
Two techniques, one method. Kate Kanner builds the brow from thousands of fine pigment dots, so it heals soft, holds on oily skin, and fades evenly instead of blurring. Drawn on you first, pigment only after you say yes.

Which brow are you looking at?
People arrive with a dozen names: eyebrow tattoo, eyebrow embroidery, microshading, shaded brows, ombre powder brows, semi-permanent brows. Almost all of them describe the same thing, pigment placed as dots with a machine. Kate does two versions of it.
Powder brows
One even tone across the whole brow, like a light pencil fill. The edges stay soft, the front stays airy. Powder brows suit people who already have some brow hair and want it to look filled in every morning, and people with oily or combination skin, because a field of dots survives oil better than any line.
Ombre brows
The same dots, arranged as a gradient. Almost nothing at the head of the brow, the fullest colour at the arch and tail. Ombre brows read as a brow done with product, without the product. They suit people who like a defined tail and a soft start, and anyone whose old brow tattoo faded unevenly and needs a shape that hides the history.
At the consultation Kate draws both on you. Most people know within a minute which one is theirs.
Why dots and not strokes
Microblading cuts hair-shaped strokes into the skin with a hand blade. The strokes look like hair on the day. On oily skin in a humid city they blur, because oil pushes pigment out of a shallow cut and the crisp line spreads. Kate sees the result walk in for correction every month. Dots have no line to lose: when some pigment lifts, the brow gets lighter, not fuzzier. That is the reason she does not offer microblading, and the reason her correction work is mostly old strokes. More on that choice.
The session, step by step
- Mapping, about forty minutes. Measuring against your bone structure, drawing, checking with your face at rest and smiling, then the mirror. Nothing starts until you approve.
- Colour. Mixed against your hair and skin. Cool skin gets a slightly warm pigment so the healed brow does not turn ashy; warm skin gets a neutral one.
- Numbing. Cream on the drawn shape for twenty minutes, then a second application once the skin is open.
- Pigment. Passes of fine dots, building density where the drawing asks for it. About an hour.
- Photos and aftercare. You leave with the ointment, the written rules, and a photo of the fresh brow to compare against day ten, when you will think it has gone.
Healing, week by week
Days 1 to 3. Bolder and sharper than the final colour. Slight tenderness. Days 4 to 8. The surface flakes. Let it fall off on its own. Days 8 to 14. The brows can look too light, almost gone. The pigment is still there under new skin. Week 4. The true colour shows. Weeks 6 to 8. The retouch visit, where Kate refines the shape and fills any spot that healed lighter.
Knowing this in advance prevents the panic on day five. Kate’s clients get this timeline on paper and by message.
Aftercare that decides how much survives
- Keep the brows dry for seven days: no swimming, sauna, steam, or long hot showers with water on the face.
- No makeup on or near the brows for ten days.
- No sun on them. In Manila this matters more than most aftercare lists admit, and sunscreen on healed brows keeps the colour for years.
- Do not pick or scratch the flakes. They take pigment with them.
- No workouts for the first three days. Sweat carries pigment out.
- Ointment thinly, as instructed. More is not better.
Who should wait, or tell Kate first
Pregnant or breastfeeding: wait. Active acne, eczema or rosacea in the brow area: wait until the skin is calm. Keloid scarring, blood thinners, recent isotretinoin, a chemical peel or resurfacing in the area in the last month: tell Kate at the consultation, before booking the session. None of these ends the conversation; they change the timing or the plan.

What brow clients say
★★★★★Abi RazoteSeptember 2026Did My Powder brows with Kate. She spent like 40 minutes just drawing the shape before touching me which I did not expect but ok now I get why. Month later they still look amazing. Thank you so much!

★★★★★Janet LimSeptember 2026 (excerpt)I first came across Kate Kanner's Permanent Make-up ads on Facebook. I messaged her to ask some questions, and she sent over photos of her work. She happened to be running a promotion at the time too, which got me even more interested.

Questions about brows
What is the difference between powder brows and ombre brows?
Both are built from thousands of tiny pigment dots, so both heal soft. Powder brows keep one even tone across the brow, like a light pencil. Ombre brows fade from almost nothing at the head to the fullest colour at the tail. At the consultation Kate draws both on you and you pick.
Is microshading the same thing?
Yes. Microshading, powder brows, shaded brows and ombre powder brows are names for the same dot technique. Eyebrow embroidery is the Philippine word for brow tattooing in general.
I have oily skin. Will it hold?
Powder and ombre brows are the techniques that hold on oily skin. Dots sit as a soft field of pigment, so when oil pushes some of it out the brow fades evenly instead of blurring. This is the reason Kate does not cut hair strokes.
How long is the session?
About two and a half hours. Forty minutes of that is drawing and measuring the shape, and Kate does not start pigment until you have looked in the mirror and said yes.
What does healing look like?
Days 1 to 3, darker and sharper than the final result. Days 4 to 8, the surface flakes. Days 8 to 14, the brows look too light, almost gone, while the pigment sits under new skin. Week 4, the true colour shows. Weeks 6 to 8, the retouch visit refines shape and colour.
Can I still thread or shape my brows afterwards?
Yes, once healed. The pigment sits inside the drawn shape, so removing stray hairs outside it changes nothing.
How long do they last?
Eighteen months to three years, depending on skin type, sun and the skincare you use near the brow. A yearly colour boost keeps them crisp.
Can I get brows done while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Kate asks you to wait. Skin and pigment behave differently during pregnancy, and no one runs safety trials on it.
